Dear ESTSS member societies,
We are looking forward to seeing all of you in June 2023 at the 17th European Conference on Traumatic Stress in Belfast hosted by UKPTS, the United Kingdom Psychological Trauma Society.
It is now time to consider the host for the 18th European Conference on Traumatic Stress in June 2025. Therefore, we are opening the call for bids to host the conference to all member societies.
To submit a bid, please provide a brief description of the city where the conference will take place. This should include a description of the available facilities (the proposed conference venue, including lecture halls capacity, poster rooms, hotel accommodation options, student accommodation options, etc.). Furthermore, please describe how the city can be reached and what are transportation options, including cheap flights. Finally, provide the expected budget with preliminary estimations of delegate fees and expenses. Please keep in mind that it is important to keep the registration fees as low as possible, to enable students and participants from low-income countries to attend the conference.
The ESTSS board of directors expects to select the winning bid by March, 15th, 2023.
Please send your bid proposal to the ESTSS executive secretary Zoran Sukovic (secretariat@estss.org) by February 1st, 2023 with the ESTSS conference 2025 bid in the subject line.

CRITERIA FOR EVALUATING PROPOSALS
The ESTSS board of directors and its conference committee will use the following criteria in evaluating proposals:
Conference organizers
Have they been active and contributing members of the ESTSS?
Does the bidding team have experience with conference organizing?
Is there a local academic institution providing support for the conference?
What is the plan for organizational and administrative support?
City
Is the proposed city attractive and accessible for ESTSS members?
How convenient and affordable is travel for both domestic and international participants?
Facilities
Are the meeting facilities appropriate and convenient?
Is inexpensive housing available for students and other delegates with limited budgets?
Are there appealing sites or opportunities for special events (e.g. the conference dinner and other social events)?
Dates
Are the dates within the intended time range for the conference (June 2025)?
Have the organizers checked for potential conflicts with other relevant conferences?
If the dates are outside the range, is the organizers’ argument for those dates compelling?
Finances
Does the proposed rough budget seem realistic?
Do the organizers have a tentative plan for raising additional local resources and funding, if necessary?
