ESTSS Board Meeting – Lisbon, 21 November 2025

The ESTSS Board convened its autumn meeting on 21 November 2025 in Lisbon, Portugal. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Portuguese Society, Observatório do Trauma/CES for their warm welcome and outstanding hospitality throughout our stay. Their support created an excellent setting for a productive and collegial meeting.

The meeting was very well attended, with strong engagement from Board Members and representatives of the Future Leadership Group. Discussions covered a wide range of strategic and operational topics central to Society’s mission and future development.

As part of the meeting, we also held the ESTSS General Assembly and we warmly thank all members who attended and contributed.

Preparations for ESTSS 2027 – Coimbra, Portugal

A central point of the agenda was the update on preparations for the ESTSS 2027 Conference, which will take place in Coimbra from June 3 to 6, 2027.

The Board was pleased to hear that planning is progressing very well, with the local organising committee actively developing programme structures, venue arrangements, and partnership opportunities.

The conference website is now available at: https://estss2027.com/

More information will be added regularly as preparation continues.

Updates on Key ESTSS Initiatives

During the meeting, the Board also reviewed progress on several important areas:

ESTSS4Ukraine Programme:

The Board acknowledged the ongoing efforts of supervisors and organisers who continue to support Ukrainian mental health professionals under extremely challenging circumstances. Updated annexes and activity summaries were reviewed, with planning for 2026 already underway.

TENTS Update Project:

An update was provided on the ongoing work related to revising and modernising the TENTS materials. The project team continues to prepare the updated guidelines, with the planned dissemination of the new version in June 2027. The Board discussed the scope of the update and next steps toward finalising the framework and release plans.

Statute Revision Process:

Proposed changes to the ESTSS Statute were presented, discussed, and clarified. This included a review of structural adjustments and the rationale behind them. Final adoption steps will follow the usual governance procedures.

ESTSS Website Renewal:

The Board examined the draft structure and functionalities of the new ESTSS website, currently in development. The aim is to improve clarity, usability, and access to society resources for all members. Further refinements will continue into early 2026.

Membership Structure Review:

An update was provided on the planned revision of member country categories and fee structures, which will be further discussed and finalised prior to the 2027 conference registration launch.

Looking Ahead

The Board expressed strong appreciation for the positive momentum across all ESTSS initiatives. With preparations for ESTSS 2027 well underway and the new website nearing completion, the coming year will mark an important phase of development for the society.

We are also pleased to share that the Greek, Bulgarian, and French trauma societies have initiated the process of joining the ESTSS family, marking a significant step forward in strengthening our European network and expanding our collaborative reach.

We thank all Board Members, FLG participants, and all attendees of the General Assembly for their active contributions and commitment. Once again, we extend our gratitude to our Portuguese colleagues for hosting us so warmly in Lisbon.
