Dear Members and interested authors,
For papers submitted after October 1st, 2013, a limited charge will be introduced for ESTSS members.
Why fees?
EJPT is doing well. An increasing number of high quality manuscripts are now being submitted to the journal.  With more publications also costs rise. With a three year grant from The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) (Incentive Open Access fund) we have been able to waive fees for ESTSS members. However, we now will need a small contribution also from ESTSS members to cover publication costs.
Please find below the new regulations for publishing in EJPT as of 1st October 2013. You can also find this information on the website of the journal  http://www.eurojnlofpsychotraumatol.net/index.php/ejpt/about/editorialPolicies#custom-1
Best wishes,
Vedat Sar (president 2013-2015) on behalf of the ESTSS board and the editor-in-chief Miranda Olff
Regulations with Amendments:
Publication fee
Publishing of regular articles (i.e. not supplements) in the European Journal of Psychotraumatology is free of charge for members of the European Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ESTSS) as long as membership (for the corresponding author) is in force at the time of submission of the manuscript. Should you choose to become a member after you have submitted the paper, or if it turns out after you have submitted your paper that you are a member anyway, you will nonetheless be charged the full publication fee. Therefore please check your membership status BEFORE submission (this can be done by logging into the membership pages of the ESTSS website. If that succeeds you are registered as an active ESTSS member, if not you should register as an active member at the ESTSS site) and indicate this in the cover letter, including membership details. Articles exceeding 8 typeset pages still incur a charge of €40/$55 per page over 8. However, if the article emanates from a university or institute that officially maintains a central fund to cover costs for Open Access Publishing, or the article describes results from research funded by a positive Open Access funder, a publication fee will be charged as follows:
Publication of an article up to 8 typeset A4 pages incurs a charge of €700, excl. VAT (Europe), $925 (rest of the world). Articles exceeding 8 typeset pages incur an additional charge of €40/$55 per page. The publication of a Short Communication up to 4 typeset A4 pages incurs a charge of €375, excl. VAT (Europe), $495 (rest of the world).
NB! For papers submitted after October 1st, 2013, a limited charge will be introduced for ESTSS members:
- The publication of an article of up to 8 typeset pages will incur a charge of €225 excl VAT (Europe)/$300 (rest of the world) if all authors are ESTSS members. If not all but more than 50% of authors are ESTSS members, a charge of €475/$630 will be levied. If less than 50% of authors are ESTSS members, the non-membership rates apply (see below).
The charge for pages over and above 8 will incur an additional charge of €85/$114 per page.
- The publication of a short communication of up to 4 typeset pages will incur a charge of €175 excl VAT (Europe)/$235 (rest of the world) if all authors are ESTSS members. If not all but more than 50% of authors are ESTSS members, a charge of €250/$335 will be levied.
If the corresponding author's university or institute officially maintains a central fund to cover costs for Open Access Publishing, or the article describes results from research supported by a funder requiring open access publication, the charge valid for non-ESTSS members will be levied (see below).
For non-ESTSS members a publication fee will be charged as follows:
Publication of an Article (up to 8 typeset A4 pages) incurs a charge of €700, excl. VAT (Europe)/$925 (rest of the world). Articles exceeding 8 typeset pages incur an additional charge of €40/$55 per page.
The publication of a Short Communication (up to 4 typeset A4 pages) incurs a charge of €375, excl. VAT (Europe)/$495 (rest of the world).

FUNDERS For a list of universities/institutes and funders supporting Open Access publication, please see here.
Additional information on how to claim reimbursement/support for publication fees can be found here.
WORDS One typeset page contains 800-900 words, tables and figures excluded.
WAIVERS We offer a complete or partial fee waiver on a case-by-case basis for individual authors or author groups who do not have funds to cover publication fees. Please mail your request for a waiver to waivers@co-action.net before submission of your manuscript. Requests for waivers of the publication fee for manuscripts that have already gone through peer review or been typeset will not be granted. Editors and reviewers have no access to author payment information, and inability to pay will therefore not influence the decision to accept your paper or not.
WITHDRAWAL OF MANUSCRIPT If you withdraw your manuscript after it has been typeset (but not yet published) you will be charged for the peer review and typesetting costs, €225/$300 per article.
Open Access Key
As a Co-Action Publishing author you are now able to manage your publication fee using Open Access Key (OAK).
Co-Action Publishing is one of the first publishers in the world to implement OAK, a unique new online payment platform designed to manage and consolidate author publication fees and connect authors to their universities, research funders or learned societies.
