ESTSS is delighted to announce that Oslo, Norway, has been selected to host the 20th European Conference on Traumatic Stress in 2029.
The conference will be organised by the Norwegian Centre for Violence and Traumatic Stress Studies (NKVTS), with Lise Eilin Stene and Helene Flood Aakvaag leading the local organising team.
The selection of Oslo marks a special return for ESTSS. Twenty years earlier, in 2009, the Norwegian capital hosted the 11th European Conference on Traumatic Stress. ESTSS will return in 2029 for its 20th conference, bringing together researchers, clinicians, practitioners and other professionals working across the field of psychotraumatology.
“We are delighted to welcome you back to Oslo in 2029, twenty years after the previous Norwegian ESTSS conference. We are already working on preparing interesting activities for the ESTSS community and a nice framework around the conference.”
— Lise Eilin Stene and Helene Flood Aakvaag, NKVTS
The successful bid presented a strong vision for a welcoming and scientifically engaging conference, drawing on NKVTS’s extensive experience in trauma research and its longstanding involvement in the ESTSS community. The plans also envisage opportunities for the ESTSS community to meet and connect beyond the main scientific programme.
Preparations are now beginning. The conference dates and venue are still to be confirmed, and further information about the programme, registration, abstract submission and other practical arrangements will be announced as planning progresses.
