GSP4Ukraine
The Georgian Society for Psychotrauma (GSP) stands with Ukraine with other ESTSS member societies who are helping the Ukrainian community of mental health professionals and Ukrainian people in dealing with the mental health crisis due to the ongoing war. Currently, the following activities are implemented:
1) Self-Help informational resource created: GSP introduced social media channel on Telegram (https://t.me/gsp4ukraine) to provide informational resources for self-help for Ukrainian people in need of mental health care, as well as Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/502488229815426/posts/5393449760719224/?d=n primarily targeting citizens of Ukraine who were unable to return back to Ukraine due to the outbreak of the war. This resource is also available for refugees who will enter Georgia.
2) Refugee care: GSP member local organizations are mobilized to provide mental health and psychosocial support to Ukrainian refugees in Georgia:- The Centre of Psychosocial Care Ndoba ("Trust") operates a crisis support hotline that serves both the local population and Ukrainian people in Georgia. The hotline operates from 10 am to 6 pm: (+995 32) 911 000- People who need further care are referred to the Synergy Club (see below): The Mental Health Multidisciplinary Service Synergy Club provides online counselling for Ukrainian refugees in need: (+995) 599 807021 - Ukrainian children and adolescents in need of mental health care, and their parents can receive services at the Center of Psychosocial care Ndoba: (+995 555 26 70 86)- The refugees who are heavily traumatized and may require longer term support will be referred to the Georgian Centre for Psychosocial and Medical Rehabilitation of Torture Victims - GCRT (www.gcrt.ge) https://www.facebook.com/GCRT-194857340569501/
3) Responding to the educational needs of mental health professionals in Ukraine: GSP is trying to meet the needs of Ukrainian colleagues who deliver emergency psychosocial support services to those in need. On March 5, 2022, GSP experts delivered a special 2-hour webinar on crisis intervention for up to 500 Ukriniaian mental health professionals.
