As the year draws to a close, I’m very happy to introduce the final ESTSS newsletter of 2025.
Reflecting on the past year, an undeniable highlight for me was standing alongside our Georgian Society for Psychotrauma colleagues to welcome so many friends and colleagues from across the world to ESTSS 2025 in Tbilisi, Georgia. Alongside the stimulating and inspiring work showcased, the memories of Georgian hospitality, khachapuri and chacha will last long into the future. As our attention turns to our next Conference, I’m excited by the progress made in preparing for ESTSS 2027 in Coimbra, Portugal. We will keep members updated through the usual Society channels and on the conference website as planning progresses.
In Tbilisi, I described the Society as a family, and our ESTSS 2025 undoubtedly strengthened those deep, international bonds. I am delighted that the ESTSS family continues to grow, as we welcome the Greek, Bulgarian and the French societies into the fold as our newest Affiliate Societies.
Next year promises to be another exciting period for our Society, as you will see from some of the items in this newsletter. The ESTSS is your society, so please get in touch if you wish to highlight any activities or events in your country or region.
The field of psychotraumatology can bring us into contact with both the best and worst of humanity, and the desire to improve the lives of others is a motivator for so many of us. As we prepare for our respective festive holidays, my thoughts are with all of those – members, colleagues, family, friends, those we help and beyond – who are affected by ongoing conflict and instability across the globe. I wish everyone, in our wide ESTSS family and your own, a very peaceful winter break.
