The annual conference of the DeGPT (The German-speaking Society for Psychotraumatology) will take place 19-21 March 2026, in Berlin.
Racism, discrimination and social inequality are deeply rooted in social structures and have far-reaching effects on the mental health of those affected. Traumas arise not only through individual experiences, but also from structural violence, social exclusions and experiences of discrimination. In psychotraumatology, intersectional perspectives are becoming increasingly important, as they take into account the intertwining of different forms of discrimination as well as their traumatic effects and psychological consequences.
The conference also features a public lecture by Prof. Dr. Marina Martinez Mateo (Munich) on ‘Politics of remembrance beyond identity. Politics and Aesthetics of Alliances in Times of Racism and Anti-Semitism’.
