The European Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ESTSS) invites bids from all members and affiliated societies to host the European Conference on Traumatic Stress in 2029.
The ESTSS Conference is the Society’s major scientific and professional event, bringing together researchers, clinicians, and practitioners working in the field of traumatic stress from across Europe and beyond. Hosting the conference provides an excellent opportunity to showcase your society, strengthen national and international collaboration, and contribute to the advancement of psychotraumatology.
Members and affiliated societies interested in hosting the 2029 conference are invited to submit a formal expression of interest and bid proposal.
The bid should include the following information:
Conference organizers
- Have they been active and contributing members of ESTSS?
- Does the bidding team have experience with conference organization?
- Is there a local academic institution providing support for the conference?
- What is the plan for organizational and administrative support?
- Is there any local government or convention bureau support available for the conference?
City
- Is the proposed city attractive and accessible for ESTSS members?
- How convenient and affordable is travel for both domestic and international participants?
Facilities
- Are the meeting facilities appropriate and convenient?
- Is affordable accommodation available for students and other delegates with limited budgets?
- Are there appealing sites or opportunities for special events (e.g. conference dinner and social events)?
Dates
- Are the proposed dates within the intended time range for the conference (June 2029)?
- Have the organizers checked for potential conflicts with other relevant conferences?
- If the dates are outside the range, is the organizers’ justification compelling?
Finances
- Does the proposed preliminary budget seem realistic?
- Do the organizers have a tentative plan for raising additional local resources and funding, if necessary?
Bids and inquiries should be sent to the ESTSS Executive Committee via the ESTSS Executive Secretary (secretariat@estss.org) with “ESTSS Conference 2029 Bid” in the subject line. The deadline for submission of bids is 1 July 2026.
Shortlisted candidates may be invited to present their proposal to the ESTSS Board before the final decision is made.
